How to Read an AI Investment Memo Without Getting Fooled

AI memos are fluent. Fluency is not accuracy. Use a short checklist every time.

1. Separate claim from confidence

A “buy” with low confidence is a soft suggestion. A “hold” with high confidence and clear risk notes may be more useful than a loud bull case.

2. Read the disagreement

If agents conflict (bullish fundamentals, bearish technicals), the memo should say so. Homogeneous agreement is a red flag when the tape is messy.

3. Check the clock

Ask what data the memo used and how recent it is. Earnings weeks and breaking news go stale fast.

4. Verify the load-bearing numbers

EPS, guidance, debt, and dilution claims deserve a glance at the primary source before size goes up.

5. Translate to your risk

Model output is not position sizing. Map the thesis to your max loss and horizon.
